It is with immense pride and joy that I share with you a significant milestone for JKA. We have been honored with the 143rd spot on Inc. Magazine’s prestigious list of Fastest Growing Businesses. This achievement is not just a number—it represents our dedication, hard work, and the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven us from the very beginning.
From Humble Beginnings to Industry Recognition
After divesting our family-operated security guard business, I embarked on a new venture by establishing JKA in May 2007. Starting from scratch, with no revenue or clients, my aim was to leverage the insights gained from operating a Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) and disseminate this knowledge to others. The objective was to transform a professional services firm into a substantial revenue-generating entity, navigating the significant challenges that come with such an endeavor. Particularly, considering that only a small fraction of women-owned businesses, about 3%, ever exceed the one-million-dollar revenue threshold. This endeavor is further complicated by the financial landscape for women-owned businesses, which, as per the Wells Fargo 2024 Impact of Women-Owned Businesses report, saw average revenues hovering around $192,600 between 2019 and 2023, with businesses owned by women of color facing even more pronounced financial challenges.
Navigating Challenges with Resilience
Confronting the challenges of the industry head-on, I’ve been committed to developing a business model that is self-sustaining and promotes both growth and profitability. This journey has been an ongoing process of learning and growth, significantly bolstered by the steadfast support from my network of financial advisors, investors, and experts in marketing and technology. Collectively, we’ve established valuable nationwide connections, collaboratively seizing opportunities with government entities and large corporations. By utilizing our varied certifications and contracts, we’ve significantly propelled our mutual growth, overcoming the often isolating nature of the business landscape.
As we continue to broaden our horizons, our focus remains on fostering collaborations that are not only strategic but also enriching. This approach is integral to our philosophy, as we endeavor to create a robust network that is conducive to shared success and advancement in both the government and corporate realms.
Expanding Horizons and Building Collaborations
Moving forward, I am passionate about expanding our network to include an even broader range of Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs), enhancing our collective footprint in both the governmental and corporate arenas. Our vision is to cultivate a community where growth and wealth generation are pursued collectively.
We are eager to forge partnerships with women-owned professional services firms that have a solid history of success and resonate with our commitment to growth and cooperative effort. We invite you to join our mission to shape a more inclusive and thriving business environment.
Looking forward, my goal is to extend this supportive network to even more Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs), thereby amplifying our impact in both the government and corporate sectors. Our mission is to create a community where growth and wealth creation are collective goals.
We are keen on partnering with women-owned professional services firms that demonstrate a proven track record and share our ethos of growth and collaboration. Join us in this endeavor to create a more inclusive and prosperous business landscape.
